NDIS SIL Registration Changes
What is actually changing?

0115 → 0138 transition

  • Current SIL registration group:0115 – Assistance with Daily Life Tasks in a Group or Shared Living Arrangement
  • New SIL registration group (from 1 July 2026):0138 – Assistance with Supported Independent Living

    • 👉 Existing registered SIL providers under 0115 will transition to 0138 automatically over time.

    📚 This is part of the NDIS Commission’s broader SIL reform and updated practice standards.

    Does this mean providers must be audited again?

    ✔ YES — but with conditions:

    Under the new framework:

  • All SIL providers will be assessed against updated SIL Practice Standards
  • Certification audits are required for SIL registration
  • Existing providers will face their next scheduled audit under the new 0138 requirements
  • New or varied registrations will trigger a scope of audit under the new system

    • 📌 In simple terms:

    SIL providers will not be continuously “re-audited immediately”, but their next audit WILL be under the new SIL standards linked to 0138.

    Is SIL becoming mandatory registration?

    ✔ YES — this is the major reform:

    From 1 July 2026:

  • SIL becomes part of mandatory registration requirements
  • Unregistered providers will not be able to continue delivering SIL supports long-term
  • Providers must apply and comply with NDIS Practice Standards

    • 📌 This is part of the government’s SIL quality and safeguarding reforms.

    Do providers need to notify the NDIS Commission if they don’t want registration?

    ✔ YES — practically speaking:

  • If a provider does NOT intend to register for SIL:
  • The NDIS Commission expects providers to either: register, OR cease providing SIL services once mandatory registration applies
