Understanding Supported Independent Living - SIL
Supported Independent Living - known as SIL - is an important NDIS-funded support designed to help people with disabilities live more independently

What Is SIL

SIL is most commonly provided in shared living arrangements where a group of individuals with similar support needs live together

It is designed for participants who require help with daily tasks to live as independently as possible

SIL funding covers the support you need at home - not your rent or utility bills

Everyday Support You Can Expect

Here is what SIL support usually includes -

  • Personal care such as showering - grooming - and dressing
  • Support with cooking - cleaning - and laundry
  • Overnight or 24-7 active support
  • Medication reminders and health routines
  • Community access support to stay connected and active

  • Who SIL Is For

SIL is ideal for people who need help throughout the day and night to live independently but do not require hospital-level care

It is suited for adults with intellectual disability - autism - neurological conditions - or complex care needs.
